After much anticipation, the 15 December 2009 has finally rolled around and we had the honour and privilege of attending the wedding of Lee and Rachel in Koh Samui. Rachel was my mentor when I started as a solicitor at Mallesons and we have kept in contact through the various job and country changes. Lee and Brendan's mutual love for all things nerd like (i.e. computer based) has also resulted in a great friendship.
T

he wedding was held at Rocky's Resort in Lamai and you couldn't have asked for a more beautiful backdrop for the occasion. To say that the scenery was gorgeous would be an understatement (an understatement only surpassed by saying that the Bride was stunning...and the groom scrubbed up pretty well too)! Dark clouds have been looming around Samui recently, but mother nature was in a good mood on the day and provided sunshine and perhaps a little too much heat!

After a lovely ceremony on the beach and photos, we moved up to the bar for cocktails as the sun set over the beautiful Rocky's beach. Ahh...the serenity! We were then treated to a delicious feast that saw all manner of meat and seafood consumed. The piste de resistance was the "WOW package" that was a special surprise organised by the bride and groom for the wedding guests - an amazing fireworks display set off on the beach below the reception area that truly "WOWED" all the guests.

After speeches and a truly unique bridal dance (think of a choreographed 80's disco dance with some moves such as the "
Sprinkler" and "
Shopping Cart") we danced the night away sipping on cocktails and other delicious beverages. As the main crowd started to call it quits, the rabble that remained moved into the pool and finally cooled off after such a hot day. A midnight Maccas delivery gave us all a second wind, but as 3:30am rolled around, we decided to call it quits and headed to bed. I think it is a sign of a great day and great people when a wedding goes into the early hours and is attended by almost 100 people in an international location.

Congrats Lee and Rachel. We are so happy for you both and wish you all the love and happiness! Thank you for letting us share you special day with you.
Now that the highlight of our Samui time has come and gone...what now?? Well, sleep first...then sun, sand and surf... at least until the new year and then who knows where to next. We will let you know when we know. Take care and hope you all have a great Christmas!!
Lots of love from us.

Thanks for the rap guys. We are so glad you guys could be there to share our special day. We look forward to having a quiet local samui dinner with you in the coming days. Lee & Rach
